Ai
Childhood friend
Described in the developer’s own notes as caregiving in tone. She is hurt early on and has to stay behind while you set out, which is what puts you on the road alone. Maiko is who she dreams about.
Dokimon Quest WikiProfessor Rei lays out the world in the game's opening, and it is bleaker than the art style suggests:
"Over 100 years ago, a comet came crashing down, destroying half of the Earth. After the incident, these Dokimon spread rampant throughout all countries. Due to the comet, and the great war against the Dokimon, 70% of all humans were eradicated."
In the present, Dokimon are "anything from pets, to workers, to lifelong partners", people still find new ones almost daily, and you are starting your first day as a Dokimon Ranger. Ranger is the game's word for a trainer — it matters mechanically too, since battling one grows a Dokimon's affinity twice as fast as a wild fight.
Roles and genders below are the developer's own, taken from the translator notes shipped inside the game's localization files. Nothing here is fan interpretation.
Childhood friend
Described in the developer’s own notes as caregiving in tone. She is hurt early on and has to stay behind while you set out, which is what puts you on the road alone. Maiko is who she dreams about.
Childhood friend
The other friend you grew up with, and the first Dokimon battle in the game is against her — the achievement for it is called "Ai Koi You". She sets out searching for Maiko while you rest.
The missing friend
A little girl who disappeared twelve years before the game starts. Finding her is the reason for the entire journey; you carry a photograph of her and show it to people who might know something.
The professor
She opens the game, and her introduction is the game’s exposition: "My name is Rei. I’m a professor and I’ve made studying Dokimon my life’s work." The second-most-earned achievement in the game is meeting her.
The great sage
Powerful, wealthy and famous, with real abilities — she can take you on a "deep dive" into the spiritual realm. She works out where Maiko is being held, and gives you the job of clearing out the Xers. Beating her is its own achievement, "The Great Sage".
Guardian Ranger
An upbeat Elite Ranger and one of the game’s early real fights — the achievement for beating him is "A little Fishy...", and 16.4% of players have it. Townsfolk mention he hands out free fishing rods.
Your mother
Stays home, heals your Dokimon, and gives you the "Momma Radar" — a way to get picked up when you are stuck — along with your first five Captals.
The antagonist
Introduced in the developer’s notes as "A God — Extremely confident, like a King or God. Gender is unclear." Named in-game as "the Dark one who caused the near destruction of our planet", and the one holding Maiko.
The evil organisation
The game’s recurring villains, run out of a base with five basement floors and later a whole island headquarters called Xer Central. They also hold the Yuujyou Orbs, which are the game’s EXP items.
Professor in Coralwood
A second professor, based in Coralwood. Strange objects you find in the world point you towards her.
Professor with a lab team
A third professor, mentioned by his own lab assistants rather than met in the opening. "Never a dull day with Professor Rook around!"
You are unnamed in the script — the game writes /name/ wherever your name goes — and the translator notes mark every one of your lines "M/F", because the character is gender-selectable. There are nine playable characters to choose between.
This one trips people up, and the area names are the reason. Kthuune's Domain, Sindella's Domain and Millian's Domain sound like they belong to characters. They are named after Dokimon, and each is a catchable entry in the Mondex.
A spelling note worth knowing if you are searching: the Dokimon is Sindela with one L, while the area is Sindella's Domain with two. That is the game's own inconsistency, not a typo here. Yumeko's Domain has no matching Dokimon in the release data at all.
Steam's global achievement rates give an honest ordering of the game's named fights — roughly, how deep into the story each one sits. Rates are the 26 August 2026 snapshot.

|---|---|---|
| Haru | A little Fishy... | 16.4% |

The game ships over a thousand lines of trainer dialogue, and every trainer gets an intro line and a defeat line — some of them very good ones. What the data does not carry is any link between a trainer and a name, a team, or a location. The lines are keyed by a bare number.
A page listing "Trainer 58" with two quotes and no idea where they stand would not help anyone, so this site does not have one. If that mapping turns out to be recoverable, the page will appear.
