The Dokimon Quest tutorial states a 1 in 777 chance of a monster appearing in one of seven rare palettes. This is the game's shiny equivalent. Morph Toxins can change a maxed-out monster's look, but do not award the full-odds star icon. These are Steam-build findings; Switch build parity is unverified.
- Answer
- 1 in 777 for a rare palette, according to the in-game tutorial; a Morph Toxin recolour does not award the full-odds star.
- Evidence
- Extracted English tutorial message 23 states the odds, seven looks and the Morph Toxin distinction.
- Rule
- Choose a hunting location using its species encounter table. Keep the species rate, rare-palette rate and capture success separate.
- Confidence
- The tutorial wording is directly sourced. Exact odds for each individual palette, independence from species selection and parity across console builds are unverified; no derived per-palette or catch probability is claimed.

What the game actually says
The in-game tutorial, message 23:
Every monster has a 1 in 777 chance of showing up in one of seven rare palettes, one of which is particularly special. Morph Toxins can also give a maxed out monster a different rare look, but don't award the full odds star icon.
The tutorial describes a chance to appear in one of the rare palettes. It does not state that each of the seven palettes independently has a 1 in 777 chance, nor give the exact chance of the particularly special look. Those individual-palette rates are unverified.
Use encounter tables to choose where to hunt
Find the monster in the monster list, then follow its wild-area links. Each area table gives a species' share of encounters within that table. Different level windows on one route are separate tables; do not merge their percentages.
A common species in the active table is easier to encounter than a rare species in that same table. That helps you choose a location, but does not prove that the rare-palette roll is independent of species selection. A capture item also acts at a different step from seeing a rare palette. This guide therefore does not multiply encounter chance, 1 in 777 and catch rate into a claimed probability.
Morph Toxins versus a full-odds encounter
The tutorial explicitly distinguishes changing a maxed-out monster's appearance with Morph Toxins from finding a rare palette naturally: the recolour does not award the full-odds star icon. Choose based on whether you want the appearance or the naturally encountered collectible marker.
